Alan Ritchson to Lead New Netflix Survival Competition Series
Apr 15, 2026
Alan Ritchson has become known as a seminal modern-day action star, at first flying under the radar in his performance as Hawk in the streaming DC series Titans, and eventually becoming more widely known for his performance as the titular character in Prime Video’s Reacher. Still going strong with three seasons and with a fourth on the way, the actor has established himself as a powerhouse performer. Now, Ritchson is taking his action hero persona a step further, starring in a new series that is sure to attract fans of his more recent work, only this time it’s with an added dose of reality. Per an exclusive report from Deadline, Alan Ritchson will be starring in a new unscripted series from streaming giant Netflix. Said to be a survival competition series, the show will follow Ritchson, described as an “avid survivalist and experienced outdoorsman,” leading a group of well-known content creators in an intense survival scenario. As Netflix continues to expand its already large catalog of original series, the addition of a reality show starring the Reacher actor is sure to garner plenty of attention. The report from Deadline includes an exciting logline, which provides a glimpse into the kinds of challenges that can be expected for the contestants on the show:
[The untitled survival series asks] whether when all the comforts of modern life are stripped away, can they rise to the challenge to survive or will they give in to the pressure. Competition, alliances, and egos collide as this group puts public reputations on the line, testing players’ self-reliance, problem-solving, and grit.
This also marks an interesting new collaborative partnership for Ritchson, moving from Prime Video onto Netflix, which he first did with the film War Machine. Should this new survival show prove to be a success, it could lead to more types of content from the actor and Netflix.
Prime Video
At the time of this writing, Ritchson had already wrapped filming on the fourth season of Reacher, which is due for release sometime in 2026, keeping with the yearly release schedule for the incredibly successful show. However, this upcoming survival series will be the first time that Ritchson is part of an unscripted production, so it will be interesting to see the actor outside his element, both literally and figuratively. The logline describes Ritchson’s capability, so it’s safe to say that Netflix and the actor himself have enough confidence to place him in a survivalist situation, making for an exciting new development that will be sure to lend credence to the action roles the actor has already taken on, as well as any future action-oriented projects.
