Alan Ritchson’s ‘Reacher’ Rumored To Be Renewed for Season 5 on Prime Video
Apr 23, 2026
Over the last few years, Alan Ritchson has become one of the biggest names in the streaming world through his work on Prime Video’s Reacher series. Having already run for three seasons since 2022, the show is based on author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books, recreating the former US Army military police major on his travels across the country, investigating murders and conspiracies while taking down dangerous criminals. Having earned excellent reviews in its first three seasons, it has consistently ranked as one of Prime Video’s most-watched programs, earning renewals in swift fashion over the last four years. Reacher was renewed for its fourth season several months before Season 3 premiered on Prime Video, and a spin-off for Maria Sten’s Neagley was also announced at the same time. The new season will bring Child’s 13th book, Gone Tomorrow, to life on the small screen, showing Reacher back in New York City as he deals with a suicide bomber and a thrilling new conspiracy. While Season 4 still does not have a release date (it is expected to hit Prime Video in 2026), a new rumor indicates that the hit series may be far from over. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Season 5 of Reacher is in development for Amazon Prime Video. While the renewal has not been made official, Sneider reported that the show will continue into a new season before noting that Season 4 is “expected to debut later this year.”

Should Reacher continue the incredible run it’s been on over the last half-decade, it would be no surprise to see this renewal become official later in 2026. For reference, Season 2 was greenlit only days after the show first debuted on Prime Video in February 2022, and Season 3 was confirmed for production over a week before Season 2 began airing in December 2023. Looking forward, the big question moving forward is which of Lee Child’s books Season 5 could adapt, which will likely come after the Neagly spin-off is released as well. As of late 2024, Child has released 29 full-length Reacher books since March 1997. Thus far, the Prime Video series has adapted the first book for Season 1 (Killing Floor), the 11th book for Season 2 (Bad Luck and Trouble), and the seventh book for Season 3 (Persuader). With Reacher Season 4 still likely being months away from its debut, news on Season 5 is unlikely to become official until at least the release for the next season is set further into stone. Even so, Alan Ritchson seems to have no plans to end his run as the massive former army cop, as he continues to show passion for this story that should keep it atop streaming charts for the foreseeable future.
The first three seasons of Reacher are available to stream on Prime Video.
