The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Trailer Shows Toph Joining the Fight
May 22, 2026
Netflix is more than ready to rumble as the streaming giant unleashes the new trailer for the next chapter in its hit action fantasy adaptation, Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2. Taking us back to the adventures of Aang as he continues to master his destiny, the action-packed new footage features all manner of bending as beloved character and powerful Earthbending blind master Toph Beifong finally joins the fray. Based on the animated series of the same name, Avatar: The Last Airbender is set amid four nations; water, air, earth, and fire, and follows a young boy known as the Avatar who must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war, and fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him. The first season was released back in 2024, and despite adapting one of the greatest animated series of all time and becoming a streaming smash hit, the live-action iteration struggled somewhat with critics who argued it failed to capture the same magic. Well, if magic is what you’re looking for, then this new trailer has it. And then some. Featuring all manner of vibrant energy blasts and martial arts spectacle set against the epic tale of a hero’s journey, Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 brings several familiar faces from the original show into the fold. With Toph, in particular, adding a new dimension to the core group’s dynamic and adding some much-needed grit to the battle scenes.

Developed by Albert Kim, who has since left the series as showrunner but stays on as executive producer in just one of several creative clashes behind the scenes, Avatar: The Last Airbender stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, with Miya Cech (You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah) joining the fight as Toph. “[It’s] definitely one of those relationships that start off quite rocky. Get it?” Cormier said to Tudum of the character’s arrival. “I’m learning, she’s teaching. … There’s quite a bit of argumentativeness, if that’s a word.” Alongside our first look at Toph in glorious rock-throwing action, the trailer also offers our first glimpses at several other characters familiar to fans of the animated original, including the spirit of the Jang Hui River known as the Painted Lady, the mysterious Blue Spirit, and the powerful “Spirit of Knowledge,” Wan Shi Tong, who appears as a giant owl.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 is all set to debut on Netflix on June 25, 2026. A third and final season is already in the works, and is expected to debut in 2027.
