Nicolas Cage’s ‘Spider-Noir’ Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed
May 25, 2026
Following a thrilling voiceover portrayal of Spider-Noir in 2018’s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Nicolas Cage will take the role into live-action in the upcoming Spider-Noir series. Here, Cage will play Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in New York City in the 1930s, who is also retired from superhero life as the Spider before he is pulled back into action. Disillusioned with the world after a long crime-fighting career, Reilly will cross paths with classic Spidey villains like Sandman and Silvermane, along with new antagonists rarely or never seen before in the pages of Marvel Comics. The show is set for a streaming release on Prime Video after Sony Pictures produced the show in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. Also starring major supporting actors like Saturday Night Live veteran Lamorne Morris and Harry Potter/DC star Brendan Gleeson, this series will offer a different look at the Web-Slinger than any past live-action project, largely due to it being set a century before the present day. Now, as the show looks to swing into action, viewers have their first idea of what select critics think about the new Spidey project. Rotten Tomatoes released its initial Tomatometer score for Nicolas Cage’s new Prime Video series, Spider-Noir, days ahead of its release on MGM+ and Prime Video. The outlet’s Tomatometer score (taken by counting how many reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are positive) for Spider-Noir is 90%.

Even though Spider-Noir ranks behind many other past Spider-Man projects on Rotten Tomatoes, a 90% positive rating is nothing to sneeze at. Critics clearly enjoyed what Amazon and Sony Pictures delivered with Nic Cage, who will deliver arguably the wildest Spider-Man variant ever realized in live-action. Early trailers have already shown his unique personality in a 1930s-set New York City, setting up a perfectly jaded and tired personality as he tries to rediscover his purpose in this world. Following this series, Cage will return to the role in animation for a second time, as he is already confirmed to be in the cast of 2027’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse for Sony Pictures Animation. While it is still unclear whether the two versions of the character will have any ties to one another, Cage will continue embracing the insanity that comes with his black-and-white hero for the foreseeable future.
Spider-Noir debuts on MGM+ on May 25, 2026, before arriving on Prime Video on May 27.
