BORN AGAIN Season 3 Isn’t Taking the Easy Way Out After Matt Murdock’s Massive Reveal — GeekTyrant
Jun 9, 2026
The Season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again left fans reeling. Between the chaos, betrayals, and major character moments, it felt like the kind of ending that could easily be softened or reversed when the series returns. But according to Charlie Cox, one of the biggest developments from that finale is here to stay.By the end of the season, Matt Murdock finds himself backed into a corner and forced to do something he’s spent years avoiding. In his effort to outmaneuver Wilson Fisk, Matt publicly reveals that he is Daredevil. The blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen finally exposes the truth about his double life, putting his secret identity out in the open for everyone to see.For longtime Marvel fans, the moment immediately brings to mind Tony Stark ending Iron Man with the now-iconic declaration that he was Iron Man. It also invites comparisons to Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange erased the world’s memory of Peter Parker to restore Spider-Man’s anonymity. So could Marvel eventually hit the reset button on Matt’s reveal with some supernatural workaround or multiverse trickery? Cox doesn’t think so.Speaking with Empire, the actor explained: “I’m all for big and bold. That’s a very difficult thing to put back in the box in our show. It’s been done in the comics, but the kind of show that we make has a kind of grounded element to it. “It’s hopefully as much based in reality as any of the Marvel projects are, and it’s a harder thing to wind back. The powers-that-be said, ‘Yeah, we understand that.’ Fine, great.”That response should be encouraging for fans who want to see the series fully explore the fallout of Matt’s decision rather than finding a convenient escape hatch. “While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has plenty of reality-bending tools at its disposal, Daredevil: Born Again has always operated in a different space. Even with superheroes and larger-than-life villains, the series tends to keep one foot planted firmly in a world that feels tangible and grounded. That approach suggests season three will lean more toward the Iron Man 2 route, examining how a hero’s life changes once the mask comes off, rather than pulling a Spider-Man: No Way Home and making everyone forget.Of course, Matt has bigger problems to deal with as well. Based on where season two left him, prison seems like a very real possibility. Yet set photos from production have already shown him back on the streets of New York, raising plenty of questions about what happens next and how the public reacts now that his secret is out. When Daredevil: Born Again returns, Matt Murdock won’t be able to hide behind the mask anymore. The consequences of that reveal are about to become a major part of the story, and that could make for some of the most interesting territory the series has explored yet.Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 does not currently have a release date. Seasons one and two are available to stream on Disney+.
