Fate of Netflix’s 90% Historical Epic ‘House of Guinness’ Officially Confirmed After 1 Season
Jun 14, 2026
Steven Knight’s critically acclaimed historical epic is officially coming back for a second season. The Peaky Blinders creator reunited with Netflix on a new series that tells the story of one of the most recognizable breweries of all time. Following its debut in 2025, audiences have patiently waited to learn about the fate of the sweeping drama, which has now finally been revealed. Variety reports that Netflix has renewed House of Guinness for Season 2. Filming is set to begin in early 2027, potentially allowing for a return date in the back half of the year. The streamer has not commented on the news yet, but the renewal has now been corroborated by several outlets. There are no further details confirmed yet, including whether Steven Knight will return as showrunner, as the writer is busy penning the script for the next James Bond reboot for Amazon MGM Studios. House of Guinness premiered in September 2025 to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The eight-episode drama garnered a Certified Fresh 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 50 critic reviews. Many praised the series for being a “breath of fresh air,” while Knight’s stylish new effort was also bolstered by a “terrific cast.” House of Guinness revolves around the children of Sir Benjamin Guinness following his death in 1968, consisting of Anthony Boyle (Masters of the Air) as Arthur, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes 3) as Edward, Emily Fairn (Saturday Night) as Anne, and Fionn O’Shea (Normal People) as Ben.
Netflix
Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the Netflix historical epic tackles the drama and intrigue that immediately takes place after the death of the person primarily responsible for the worldwide success of the iconic brewery. The series ushers in a new era for Guinness when his children suddenly become in charge of the enterprise. As one might imagine, the transition is not easy, and in true Steven Knight fashion, a power struggle commences, and not just between the siblings. Of course, it should be noted that, like most great historical dramas, House of Guinness is a heavily fictionalized version of the real-life story behind the Guinness name.
The supporting cast of House of Guinness includes James Norton (Happy Valley) as Sean Rafferty, Niamh McCormack (Everything Now) as Ellen Cochrane, Seamus O’Hara (An Irish Goodbye) as Patrick Cochrane, Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) as John Potter, Dervla Kirwan (True Detective: Night Country) as Aunt Agnes Guinness, Michael Colgan (The Regime) as Reverend Henry Gratton, Danielle Galligan (Shadow and Bone) as Lady Olivia Hedges, David Wilmot (Station Eleven) as Bonnie Champion, Jessica Reynolds (Kneecap) as Lady Christine O’Madden, Hilda Fay (Spilt Milk) as Sultan, Ann Skelly (The Sandman) as Adelaide Guinness, Elizabeth Dulau (Andor) as Lady Henrietta St Lawrence and Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones) as Byron Hedges.
