Taylor Sheridan’s Hit Action Thriller Officially Sets New Summer Release
Jun 26, 2026
When Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone first premiered, it was hard to tell how impactful the series would end up being on the Paramount network and its inevitable streaming service, Paramount+. The show eventually expanded into several spin-offs that took place across different periods of time. However, the most intriguing entries have been Marshals and Dutton Ranch, both of which take place after the events of the parent series. While Dutton Ranch is still airing new episodes (with the finale set to air on Jul. 3), Marshals wrapped up its first season last month, with the second season already in production. Marshals quickly became one of the most popular shows airing at the time, averaging 25.24 million viewers within a 35-day release window. The early Season 2 renewal speaks for itself, with Paramount looking to expand the story of Luke Grimes’s character Kayce Dutton and his work with the Marshals. Now, a Blu-ray release has been set for the first season so that viewers can watch it without a streaming subscription. It’s been confirmed that Marshals Season 1 will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 25. Pre-orders are now available for the product, with all the episodes and bonus features spread across three discs. The series follows the story of Kayce Dutton as he attempts to leave his life at Yellowstone ranch behind. He does so by joining an “elite U.S. Marshals unit” to help enforce range justice in Montana. The series is a tonal departure from its predecessor that it spun off from, being more action-oriented and following a procedural format that helps to differentiate itself enough from the other Yellowstone spin-offs. Interestingly, this is the first instance in which a Yellowstone show was not created or written by Sheridan himself.
Still, the original creator of Yellowstone is attached to the project as an executive producer, and his past work more than likely influenced the tone and characters of Marshals. With the second season already filming in Park City, Utah, there is plenty for fans of the series to look forward to, especially after the climactic finale that left the fates of some characters up in the air. Joining Marshals Season 2 are returning characters from the original series, including Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill), Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty).
At the time of this writing, there is no set premiere date for Marshals Season 2. However, given that the show is already deep in production for its new batch of episodes, there is a good chance that it could premiere either this fall or early in 2027. For those who can’t wait for the physical release, Marshals Season 1 is currently available to stream on Paramount+. Physical media collectors and Yellowstone fans will only have to wait until August to own the series on disc, with Marshals joining the ranks of the original series and fellow spin-offs 1883 and 1923 as being available on Blu-ray. Hopefully, Dutton Ranch will also be released on physical media when the first season finishes airing.
