Taylor Sheridan’s Best Action Thriller Finally Returns in Explosive New Trailer
Jul 17, 2026
The best Taylor Sheridan action thriller is finally back with an official trailer for the highly anticipated third season. Starring Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, the streaming series follows an elite group of CIA operatives battling enemies across the globe, but those threats are now hitting closer to home than ever before. Paramount+ has released the official trailer for Lioness Season 3, which is set to premiere on Aug. 2. As the footage reveals, Lioness doubles down on the action while honing in on the personal life of Joe (Saldaña), who must balance her overseas duties as well as some unexpected betrayals that hit close to home. She is joined by several familiar faces, including supervisor Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and Secretary of State Edwin Mullins (Morgan Freeman), the latter of whom warns that “our national security has been compromised.” Lioness Season 3 looks like the most dramatic yet, adding more nuance and meaning to the explosive set pieces the streaming show is known for. Saldaña previously confirmed that she worked closely with series creator Taylor Sheridan to develop the latest episodes, which strike a “rare balance between high-octane action and genuine emotional depth.” For her, it was important to nail down the personal stakes of her protagonist, while still proving the non-stop thrillers the series is known for. The Oscar winner called it the most “demanding” season, and the latest trailer does a good job proving that. Watch it below:
As Lioness puts the focus on Joe again, expect the series to still continue the storylines of the operatives under her wing. Back for more action are Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira) and Josephina “Josie” Carrillo (Genesis Rodriguez), whose romantic relationship continues in the upcoming season. New and returning members of the supporting cast also include Michael Kelly, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier and Ian Bohen. Read the official synopsis:
In Season Three, from creator and writer Taylor Sheridan, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide. Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish, and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.
The third season of Lioness arrives next month as the popular action thriller continues its reign on the streaming charts. Ahead of the show’s return in August, the series was among the top 10 most watched television titles on Paramount+ for July. As fans rewatch and catch up on the underappreciated series, Lioness is once again poised to dominate the streaming landscape this summer. And with the second season being one of the best reviewed Sheridan projects in recent memory (90% on Rotten Tomatoes), it’s hard not to have high expectations of the series’ return.
