For over two decades, FX has enjoyed massive success and delivered countless laughs behind the team that makes It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, one of the highest-rated sitcoms of the modern era. After releasing 14 hit seasons in consecutive years since 2005, the schedule has been a little less stable since the COVID-19 pandemic, but the show is on its way to releasing its 18th season in 2026. Bringing back its usual cast of stars (including Charlie Day, Rob Mac, Glenn Howerton, and Kaitlin Olson), the show highlights the gang working at Paddy’s Pub in South Philadelphia, struggling to keep it afloat as they work through their own litany of issues. Recognized as the longest-running comedy in American TV history, It’s Always Sunny received a historic four-season renewal in Dec. 2020, of which Season 18 is the last season. As of this writing, there are no official plans for the series to continue into Season 19. However, considering the viewing numbers it still earns to this day, the Paddy’s Bar crew seems to be showing no signs of slowing down during this new season. Now, the time has come to dive back into this group’s story, which could bring some of its wildest moments to date in a new trailer for the series. FX Networks released the first official trailer for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ahead of its Season 18 return next month. Along with some wild hijinks for the core cast of characters at a Renaissance fair, a non-alcoholic beer tasting, and a college party, one of the big storylines this season will center on Danny DeVito’s Frank Reynolds getting married to Sam, played by Carol Kane. The trailer shows much of the buildup to their wedding, including Frank’s bachelor party, before all hell breaks loose on the day of the event.

While FX is still keeping much of what will happen in Season 18 under wraps, it is abundantly clear that the crew will not hold back on the hilarity or insanity for a moment. Outside of Frank and Sam’s wedding, the footage pits the core team into new environments and scenarios, which could make for some of the best episodes this show has ever delivered over its 21-year stretch on the air. The new season also includes an exciting guest appearance by comedy star Nick Kroll, giving him his first opportunity to play off Howerton, Olson, and DeVito’s unique brand of comedy. From here, the big question after the season ends is whether this iconic team will want to continue this show’s run of success into Season 19 and beyond. The four-season renewal from 2020 shows the faith FX still has in the show, and should something like that happen again, It’s Always Sunny has a great chance to go well beyond 20 seasons of action.
