‘The Gentlemen’ Loses 2 Original Stars, Reunites ‘Lord of the Rings’ Icons in Big Season 3 Shake-Up

Oct 24, 2026

Guy Ritchie’s signature blend of aristocratic elegance and gritty underworld chaos has officially solidified its place as a Netflix powerhouse. Originally launched as a television spin-off of his hit 2019 feature film, The Gentlemen captivated global audiences across its first two seasons. Following that massive momentum, the streamer wasted no time in securing a third season renewal, with production now officially underway. The announcement comes paired with a massive casting update that expands the show’s universe, headlined by a cinematic reunion that brings two legendary fantasy icons together again.

Anchoring the criminal empire are series favorites Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, who are officially confirmed to return as Eddie and Susie. While their volatile partnership remains the beating heart of the show, Deadline reports that they will be surrounded by a star-studded ensemble as production gets underway. Leading the casting announcement is a surprise Lord of the Rings reunion between Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood, who famously shared the screen as the iconic Middle-earth duo Legolas and Frodo Baggins.

This casting marks a massive coup for Netflix, bringing the fantasy legends back together in a completely different kind of universe – and they won’t be short of company. The jam-packed lineup also includes Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting), Dexter Fletcher (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), and Bruna Marquezine (Blue Beetle). They are joined by Ed Speleers (Outlander), Saffron Burrows (You), and Bugzy Malone (2019’s The Gentlemen) as part of a major cast expansion for the third season of the hit Netflix crime drama. Audiences can also look forward to the return of several familiar faces from the first two seasons. The official announcement confirms that Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Benjamin Clementine, and Maya Jama are all locked and loaded to reprise their roles for the third season of The Gentlemen. However, the casting update also reveals who will not be returning to play in Ritchie’s criminal sandbox, as two core cast members make a sudden exit.

Daniel Ings, who plays Eddie’s cocaine-addicted older brother, Lord Frederick “Freddy” Horniman, is officially bowing out, alongside Giancarlo Esposito, who retires his role as the sophisticated American billionaire and drug kingpin Stanley Johnston. Furthermore, the new season will not feature Suits alum Meghan Markle. Despite early conversations regarding a potential role, the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly out of the running for the upcoming chapter – which has started production in the UK and Morocco.

With the board now reset and the empire expanding across international borders, the stage is set for a wild ride when The Gentlemen Season 3 eventually debuts on Netflix. It is a remarkably quick turnaround for the franchise, considering the sophomore run only hit streaming in September. However, by introducing a new global canvas and pairing it with a fresh cast injection, the upcoming chapter is clearly designed to double down on the high-octane thrills that made the show a breakout hit in the first place.
