“Murderville” made a splash earlier this year on Netflix, splicing a murder mystery serial premise with improvised comedic antics. Throw in guest stars like Conan O’Brien, Kumail Nanjiani, and Ken Jeong into the mix next to Will Arnett‘s clumsy senior detective, and it’s a fun time all around.

And Netflix has something special in store this holiday season for its subscribers: it’s a special Christmas episode of “Murderville.” “Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery” sees Arnett back on the case, with two new guest stars: Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph. A little “Arrested Development” reunion as a stocking stuffer? Not a bad gift for comedy fans.

Senior Detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett) is back and this time, the case is critical. Along with his two celebrity guest stars, Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph, he is on a mission to figure out…who killed Santa? But here’s the catch: Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph aren’t being given the script. They have no idea what’s about to happen to them. Together, with Terry Seattle (and many surprises), they will have to improvise their way through the case… but it will be up to both of them to name the killer.  
“Murderville” hit Netflix this past February to positive reviews by critics. Based on the BAFTA Award-winning BBC3 series “Murder In Successville,” the show sees a guest star play the role of a rookie detective to Arnett’s seasoned vet as they attempt to solve a murder mystery. The comedy of the set-up lies in the guest star not having any script, forcing them to improvise their way through each episode to solve the killer’s identity.
