Sadie Sink and Bryan Cranston Become Batgirl and Commissioner Gordon In New DCU Fan Art

Mar 28, 2023

Sadie Sink and Bryan Cranston have not yet worked together on screen, but a new piece of digital DC fan art has imagined the pair as new iterations of Batgirl and Commissioner Gordon. With James Gunn rebooting the DCU and the now defunct Batgirl movie having well and truly been buried at Warner Bros. Discovery, there are potentially new iterations of both characters coming down the line, and one digital artist has shown exactly what Sink and Cranston could look like in the roles.

Naturally, Batgirl is currently a sensitive subject among DC fans following the cancelation of the Leslie Grace and Brendan Fraser movie, which would have been getting ready to premiere in another universe. While that film will never see the light of day, at some point, there will be another attempt to see Barbara Gordon transform into Batgirl. Digital artist horrific.heroics has now shared on Instagram precisely what that new iteration of the character could look like with Sink in the role, and a second piece brings in Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston as her father, Jim Gordon. Check out both images below.

Fans were certainly on board with the idea of both actors taking on the roles and made it clear in some of their comments on the images. One noted on Cranston’s image, “Been thinking he’d be a great Gordon for years now. Great fan art. Someone make it happen.” Another added that as Cranston “voiced Gordon in Batman Year One,” then there is no reason why he could not take on the role in a live-action movie. When it came to Sink as Batgirl, one fan of the art said, “Definitely her look is 100 times better as Batgirl than Leslie Grace.” Another also gave an alternative Batgirl idea for Matt Reeve’s The Batman, saying, “While I think Jenna Ortega would be perfect as Batgirl in the Matt Reeves universe, Sadie Sink would be a great Batgirl in the new DCEU!”

Who Will Play Commissioner Gordon and Batgirl In the New DCU?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Although there is no word on exactly when Commissioner Gordon will be back in the DCU, whether J.K. Simmons will be playing him again is unclear. Simmons took on the role of Gordon in Justice League, but whether he will be one of the actors to move forward with the new DCU is yet to be seen. There is a similar situation with Batgirl. This time last year, it seemed that Leslie Grace would become the Batgirl of the DCU, but now that role is not guaranteed to be available in James Gunn’s new plans. While every comic book fan has their own ideas of who they want to play various DC and Marvel roles on screen, as far as the Godsons go, Cranston and Sink could be the perfect stars to bring the pair to life if these concepts are anything to go by.
