James Gunn Explain the Process of Casting New Actors for the DCU
Mar 31, 2023
James Gunn is always ready to answer the fans whenever they have doubts about his job. Especially now that the director is head of the recently created DC Studios and is responsible for every project to come to the big or small screen regarding the characters of the comic book company.
In the last couple of months, Gunn has dedicated a lot of his time to reply to his followers on social media, asking about rumors and theories of what will happen with the future of the franchise after so many significant changes, such as Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam or Henry Cavil’s Superman being out of the picture despite the post-credits scene of Black Adam.

Now, James has taken to Twitter once again to answer a fan who confronted him about the casting for the new DCU after the director revealed that his Guardians of the Galaxy stars could follow him to his new projects:
We don’t know what Gunn is looking for in every actor that he will bring for his plan, but evidence shows that he and Peter Safran want a younger actor to play Superman. It’ll probably be the same case for Batman and Wonder Woman as Warner-Discovery’s head David Zaslav has made it clear that the DC Holy Trinity will be the center of the franchise’s future.

James Gunn’s Last Adventure With Marvel Studios
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
With his new job taking most of his time, James Gunn is ready to let go of Marvel stories; with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III being his last collaboration with the studio. But, as with the previous installments, we expect an amazing last adventure.
Even though no official synopsis has been released for the film, we know that the team will get together one last time, finding them in a very different position than we did before, with Quill still trying to figure out his place in the universe without Gamora. So, the group will go on a quest to find her while crossing paths with all kinds of characters, such as Adam Warlock.
Played by Will Poulter, Warlock will only be introduced in this movie so he can play a more significant part in what’s to come for the MCU. He won’t be a good guy, at least for now, as Gunn explained:
“It’s kind of more complicated than that. But he’s definitely not a good guy. What we’re seeing is the infant form of Warlock, newly out of the cocoon, and he does not understand life very well. He’s basically a baby.”
