Comedy Central’s Live-Action Sitcom Returns On April 26

Mar 31, 2023

Awkwafina has a big 2023 ahead of her, with “Renfield” and “The Little Mermaid” hitting theaters this year. But don’t let that overshadow the return of her Comedy Central sitcom “Awkwafina Is Noria From Queens” for its third season next month. Not only is the last live-action show left on the network, but it’s arguably Awkwafina’s biggest creative project.

Why’s that? Well, on top of being a meta-narrative with Awkwafina playing a fictional version of herself, the actress/rapper/comedian also directs episodes of the show’s new season. So, another craft to add to her repertoire. The third season focuses on Nora as she navigates “themes of identity and success.” And of course, Nora’s family, like BD Wong‘s Wally and Bowen Yang‘s Edmund, are there to put her in her place when necessary. The series also stars Lori Tan Chinn and Jennifer Esposito.
Like previous seasons of “Nora From Queens,” S3 boasts a bunch of guest appearances. Here’s a list of who to expect in the new episodes: Scott Adsit, Celia Au, Gabo Augustine, Michael Bolton, Ross Butler, Jordan Carlos, Ronny Chieng, Jen D’Angelo, Lea DeLaria, Chrissie Fit, Woody Fu, Janeane Garafalo, Gina Gershon, Judy Gold, Ken Jeong, Adrian Martinez, Frankie Muniz, Jon “Dumbfoundead” Park, Noah Robbins, Jai Rodriguez, and Greta Titelman.
As noted earlier, Awkwafina shares directing duties on “Nora From Queens” S3 with Bill Benz, Jordan Kim, and Laura Murphy.  Teresa Hsaio co-creates the series with its star, and the pair co-executive produce with Andrew Lutin, Sean Fogel, Peter Principato, and Itay Reiss of Artists First.  Tara Power oversees production for Comedy Central through MTV Entertainment Studios.
It’s been over a year since the last season of “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens” premiered, but don’t let that dilute this show’s buzz. Check out a new teaser for the show below. Season 3 premieres on Comedy Central on April 26.
