‘Heartstopper’ Star Joe Locke Cast In Marvel’s Upcoming Disney+ Series

Dec 8, 2022

Not only was “WandaVision” the debut of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+, but it also was a massive hit, not just in viewership but also with awards consideration. So, it makes sense Marvel Studios would want to keep that mini-franchise going with the first spinoff “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” (The second spinoff is “Vision Quest,” which seems to be in the works, also.) While not much is really known about ‘Coven of Chaos,’ the cast is starting to come together and a popular Netflix star is the latest to join the MCU.

According to Variety, Joe Locke has been cast in an unknown role in “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” Locke is best known for his role in the breakout Netflix hit drama series, “Heartstopper.” Again, this is a Marvel Studios project so there is no mention of who the character Locke plays might be or what the actual show is about. Previously, we knew that Kathryn Hahn is set to return as the title character, Agatha Harkness, an evil witch who served as the main villain in “WandaVision.” We also know that Emma Caufield, who had a very minor role in the previous series, is set to return as well.

All the secrecy hasn’t stopped folks from speculating about “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” Many believe the show will reintroduce Wanda Maximoff’s twin boys as older teens in the series. If that’s the case, you can’t help but notice that Joe Locke would be the perfect age and spot-on casting for a character like Wiccan, aka Billy from “WandaVision.” So, it probably won’t take long for that rumor to gain traction.
“Agatha: Coven of Chaos” is being led by head writer Jac Schaefer. Previously, Shaefer served as head writer for “WandaVision,” so she has a strong understanding of this very particular corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No release date has been set for ‘Coven of Chaos,’ but the series is expected to arrive sometime in 2023.
