Upcoming Marvel Series Reportedly Casts an Actor Cut from Spider-Man: Homecoming

Apr 11, 2023

It may have been five years since the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the first solo adventure for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker after being introduced in Captain America: Civil War, but there are still stories that were left out and can connect with the future of the MCU.

Kevin Feige’s work to unite each of the productions that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe is truly admirable and continues to show that despite the years that have passed and having also added television series to the equation, the formula continues to work perfectly. The connections are intact, and an actress who was going to be a part of Homecoming will return for one of the upcoming projects.

Jona Xiao was part of the original cast of the 2017 film, but her character was ultimately cut, and she did not appear in it. However, according to a detailed worksheet of the actress on Actors Access, Xiao has been cast as a lead actress in an unknown Disney+ project for Marvel Studios.

Unfortunately, the report does not detail the series or the character she’ll be playing, and it is unknown whether it will be a live-action or animated project, considering that the former SWAT star has dabbled in both fields.

Next Marvel Series Coming to Disney+

Disney Platform Distribution

Like every year, 2023 will be full of original Marvel productions. Some, like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will hit the big screen, while others will shine on Disney+.

The first tv show to arrive on the platform will be Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur on Feb. 10. This animated kids’ series follows the genius Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl, who accidentally brings a T-Rex to modern-day New York via a time vortex.

In spring, one of the most anticipated series of the year will finally debut. Secret Invasion will bring Samuel L. Jackson’s Fury back after years out in space working with the Skrulls. He’ll be pulled back into action by a rogue sect of the shape-shifting species to prevent an invasion on Earth.

Making its return will be What If…? and Loki, premiering this year with their second seasons, exploring the multiverse’s possibilities and dangers. The X-Men will also be a huge part of this year’s Marvel slot, with the return of the acclaimed 90’s animated series on X-Men ‘97.

Finally, Ironheart and Agatha: Coven of Chaos will debut on the service to keep exploring female leading characters in all kinds of adventures.
