HBO Gives Series Order To New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Spinoff
Apr 13, 2023
Well, after the success of “House Of The Dragon” last year, it was only a matter of time before HBO announced another “Game Of Thrones” spinoff. And it’s one that “Thrones” fans already knew about, albeit with a different name now. The network gives “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” a series order. The prequel series will adapt George R.R. Martin‘s “Tales Of Dunk And Egg” novellas; that title was the given one when the show first hit development.

Here’s a logline for the series, courtesy of HBO:
A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Martin serves as writer/executive producer on “The Hedge Knight,” along with Ira Parker. “House Of The Dragon” writer Ryan Condal and producer Vince Gerardis will as executive producers, too.
There is no casting news for “The Hedge Knight,” as HBO only just announced this series to drum up hype for their rebranding of HBO Max to Max. But this prequel series will premiere on Max in due time; give it a couple of years, though.
