OBI-WAN KENOBI Series Princess Leia Actress on Secretive Audition Process Saying, “There Were Code Names For the Code Names” — GeekTyrant

Apr 14, 2023

As with any Star Wars project, Obi-Wan Kenobi was a limited series with a specific and important story to tell, and the show creators had the advantage of knowing who would lead the series, as it brought back film star Ewan McGregor to play the title role. The next part was a little harder, in finding the other stars, including one who could play a young Princess Leia, one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars Universe. They ended up making a great choice, but the process was a long and arduous one. At this past weekend’s Star Wars Celebration in London, young star of the series Vivien Lyra Blair explained to the audience what her audition process looked like, saying:”Well it was a very, very, very, very, very long audition process. I think it was about the course of almost a year that I was auditioning, and I did a lot of these dummy sides, which were sides for characters that already existed […] They just wanted to see how I could deal with those scenes […] At one point there were code names for the code names [audience laughs] because like, there were code names, right? And then there were code names for the code names, so I couldn’t even know the code names until my seventh audition or something.”She went on to talk about working with co-star McGregor, saying:”He’s an incredible human being and working with him was just amazing. We had so many things together […] I remember the scene where I was in the coat. I was inside the Imperial officer’s coat and I kept poking my head out to look around at the set and he kept trying to push me back in. It was really funny.”The casting directors definitely made the right choice with Blair, and it sounds like she had a wonderful time on set. Maybe she will be able to reprise the role again someday. Would you like to see her return to play Princess Leia?via: /Film
