James Corden Blasted by British TV Director, Says Comedian Was ‘Difficult and Obnoxious’
Apr 19, 2023
The Late Late Show host James Corden is facing some new criticism from someone he worked with on the British game show A League of Their Own. Corden had served as the host of the show for nearly a decade from 2010 to 2019. As the funnyman is also soon leaving his stint at host of The Late Late Show, he’s expected to appear on-screen more often in the UK, as he’s said he’s heading back following the wrap of his American talk show.
However, we can presume that director Craig Duncan won’t be wanting work with Corden. Taking to YouTube, Duncan, who worked as a director on A League of Their Own, describes the experience of dealing with Corden on the game show. The video spans more than nine minutes with Duncan alleging multiple instances of Corden being very difficult to work with, noting it to be worse than any other presenter ever dealt with.
“The most difficult and obnoxious presenter I’ve ever worked with is James Corden,” Duncan says matter-of-factly at the start of the video, via TooFab.
The director goes on to explain the interactions he’d allegedly had with Corden during the third episode of the seventh season, an experience Duncan claims he’ll “never forget.” He recalls how before even meeting Corden, he was warned about the TV star’s behavior, with producers said to be asking Duncan how well he did working with “difficult presenters.” Duncan says he attended a taping with Cordon hosting and watched the Cats star allegedly flip out over a cue card he didn’t like.
“He just looked at it like, ‘That’s not funny, that’s not funny. It’s s—. We have to rewrite this,” Duncan says.
At this point, Duncan was willing to give Corden a pass for having a possible bad day, but things didn’t get much better when it came to his own shoot. Duncan says he went into the shoot with a “creeping sense of anxiety,” and as he suggests, that turned out to be for a good reason, claiming that Corden was berating him before long.
According go Duncan, Corden hollered at him, “What the f— is going on here? It’s obvious what you do. You put a camera there, you put a camera there, and you put a camera there… It’s so obvious… You’re stupid!”

The story certainly sounds unpleasant, though Duncan says he tried to satisfy Corden by saying the TV host was “absolutely right” about a change he wanted that they had already done anyway. To boot, Duncan recalls another experience of waiting for Corden to arrive, only for him to show up 45 minutes late to film a brief segment, holding everyone else up. The director concludes his story with some parting words for Corden.
“Cheers, James, you got your way,” Duncan says. “Well done for treading all over my toes. I don’t care. I’ll get paid at the end of the day, and I hope I never ever work with you again!”
It’s not the first time Corden has been accused of being unpleasant to work with. Spice Girls singer Mel B has referred to the TV host as the “biggest d—head celebrity” she’s ever met. An alleged feud with a restaurant owner in New York also hit the press last year, with Corden acknowledging the coverage during The Late Late Show.
