Here’s an official synopsis of “High Desert,” courtesy of Apple TV+:
“High Desert” follows Peggy (Arquette), an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.
Peggy meets all sorts of ne’er-do-wells in her Yucca Valley travels, including Matt Dillon‘s Denny, her charming parolee ex. Other characters include Rupert Friend‘s ex-anchorman and desert mystic Guru Bob, Weruche Opia‘s Carol, Peggy’s close friend, and Brad Garrett‘s Bruce, another PI. Other “High Desert” cast members include Bernadette Peters and Keir O’Donnell.
Beyond “High Desert” and “Severance,” Arquette and Stilller also worked together on Stiller’s Showtime drama “Escape at Dannemora.” And another regular Stiller collaborator directs the series: Jay Roach, who worked with the actor on all three “Meet The Parents” movies.
Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe create “High Desert.” They also serve as co-executive producers with Arguette, Stiller, Roach, and more.
The first three half-hour episodes of “High Desert” premiere on Apple TV+ on May 17, with new episodes premiering weekly after that for the show’s eight-episode run. Watch a trailer for the series below.
