A new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released from Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. The film stars Halle Bailey in the title role as the mermaid Ariel; Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle; Jonah Hauer-King as Eric; Art Malik; Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina; plus the Oscar winner Javier Bardem as King Triton; and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.The clip features Bailey recording some of the songs, as well as brief interviews with composers Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda talking about making the music for the film, and Melissa McCarthy touching on portraying the sea-witch, Ursula. There are brief shots of iconic scenes we know from the original, that I can’t wait to see adapted in real life on the screen! This makes me even more excited for The Little Mermaid, which hits theatres on May 26th. Check it out below:
