Trevor Noah Leaves After Seven Years

Comedy Central

On Sept. 29, Trevor Noah announced on the show that he was preparing to leave from his job as host after seven years. It was a decision that he hadn’t even told anyone involved with the show about before he made the announcement while filming. Noah later told THR that he wanted the moment to be genuine when he said it, explaining why he chose to reveal the news this way.

“art of the reason I did it that way is because I didn’t want anybody to be the person who then tells somebody else, who then tells somebody else, who then tells somebody else,” Noah said. “And this is where we create the thing. [The show] is where we’re together, our space, and so for me, it felt like the most natural way to tell everybody at the same time.”

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Episodes are made available the next morning for streaming on Paramount+. The show will go on a hiatus after Dec. 8 and will return on Jan. 17, 2023.
