Elgin James’ Incredible Biker Drama Begins Its Final Ride In May

Apr 26, 2023

People who have listened to my various podcasts and interviews about “Mayans M.C.” already know just how much I love this series. In my mind, it is one of the very best on TV right now. And sadly, it’s time for the show to come to an end.

As seen in the trailer for Season 5 of “Mayans M.C.,” the series picks up where Season 4 left off. EZ is the new President of the club and has his sights firmly set on a war with the Sons of Anarchy. Yes, the very same club that was the focus of Kurt Sutter’s long-running FX megahit. Is there any subtext to be read into when you see that the characters from the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff is hoping to wipe out the members of the club from the original series? If you’ve been paying close attention to the last couple of seasons, you already know the answer to that. Everything has been building to this moment, as EZ proves he’s either the best or the worst thing to ever happen to the Mayans.

Once again, Elgin James returns as director, writer, and showrunner for “Mayans M.C.” The excellent cast for the series includes JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, JR Bourne, Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Michael Irby, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, Vincent Vargas, Gino Vento, Emily, Tosta, and Vanessa Giselle.
Seriously, if you’re sleeping on “Mayans M.C.,” you need to rectify that ASAP. And you still have time to do so, with the previous four seasons on Hulu, right now. “Mayans M.C.” Season 5 debuts on FX on May 24. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Mayans M.C. follows the life of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (JD Pardo), president of the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Once a golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp, EZ has now risen to lead his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas) and the Santo Padre M.C. in a bloody war against their rival Sons of Anarchy. Defending the California territory and patch begins to claim lives within the club and causes strain between EZ and Angel — as one brother devotes himself to the club and the other to family. Felipe (Edward James Olmos) attempts to heal these fractured bonds for the future of the Reyes family.
