To drum up hype, Netflix has some new first-look photos of the show’s final season. Here’s an official synopsis for “The Crown” Season 6, courtesy of Netflix:
Inspired by real events, The Crown is a fictional dramatization of the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign.
As The Crown enters a new decade, Prince William starts at University in St Andrew’s, determined to lead as normal a life as possible while he still can. Also beginning life as a University student, is Kate Middleton from Berkshire. As the pair meet for the first time on campus, a new romance and a new future for The Crown begins.
Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy take on the roles of Prince William and Kate Middleton for the final season of “The Crown.” It’s McVey’s professional screen debut after graduating from the Drama Centre London in 2021, and onstage roles at The Old Vic and Hammersmith Riverside Studios. As for Bellamy, she was cast as Middleton after submitting an audition tape for the role through social media.
Other cast members of “The Crown” over the seasons include Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Dominic West, Elizabeth Debicki, Claudia Harrison, and Olivia Williams. The show’s cast also include Bertie Carvel, Salim Daw, Khalid Abdalla, Luther Ford, Rufus Kampa, and Flynn Edwards.
Peter Morgan created “The Crown” and writes the show’s sixth and last season. He also serves as executive producer with Suzanne Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw, and Robert Fox.
