Equalizer 3 Confirmed To End Denzel Washington Franchise In Epic Poster
Apr 27, 2023
The first epic poster for The Equalizer 3 has been released, teasing Denzel’s Washington’s upcoming Italian adventure as Robert McCall, which will be his last. Washington first played McCall in 2014’s The Equalizer, director Antoine Fuqua’s loose film adaptation of the 1980s TV show of the same name. After a sequel in 2018, Washington is slated to re-team with Fuqua for a third film, which will transport the action out of the U.S. and into Italy.

Now, ahead of The Equalizer 3’s release date this September, Sony Pictures has unveiled the first poster for the upcoming film, confirming that it will be Washington’s “Final Chapter” in the franchise. Check out the new poster below:
In addition to confirming that it will be Washington’s last time playing McCall, the poster also really highlights the sequel’s new Italian setting, teasing that “Justice knows no borders.” The poster prominently features an Italian flag and the Colosseum, and even likens McCall to the statue of Lady Justice, which serves as his mirror image.
What To Expect From The Equalizer 3
The first and second films took place in and around Massachusetts, making The Equalizer 3’s jump to Europe a major shift for the franchise. The Equalizer 3’s official synopsis has already teased why McCall is in Europe, revealing that the retired assassin has found some modicum of peace in his new home in Southern Italy. This peace doesn’t last long, of course, with McCall soon discovering that his local friends are under the control of the Italian mafia, which spurs him into action once more.
Outside of that relatively simple but effective premise, The Equalizer 3’s cast is reason enough to get excited about the upcoming sequel. The film will reunite Washington with Dakota Fanning after the two previously starred together in 2004’s Man on Fire. The rest of The Equalizer 3’s cast includes David Denman, Sonia Ammar, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Gaia Scodellaro, Remo Girone, and Andrea Scarduzio.
Since Fuqua is returning as director for the film, The Equalizer 3 will likely feature the same kind of brutal violence as its predecessors. A signature component of Washington’s character is, after all, his ruthless precision and eye for small details. Although many questions remain about The Equalizer 3, Sony’s post also confirms that the first trailer for the film is releasing tomorrow, which will hopefully provide an even clearer indication of what’s to come for McCall’s last adventure.
