Amy Adams To Star In A New Murder Mystery Limited Series
Dec 12, 2023
Early in her career, Amy Adams could be found all over your TV. Hell, she even had a multi-episode arc on “The Office.” But since then, she’s left behind TV to focus on her film work. Well, except for her acclaimed 2018 drama series, “Sharp Objects.” Now, it appears Adams is ready to make a bit of a TV comeback with another prestige limited series, “The Holdout.”

According to Deadline, Amy Adams is attached to star in and executive produce a new limited series, “The Holdout.” The series comes from writer-creator Graham Moore (“The Imitation Game”) based on his own novel. The series follows a woman who served as a member of a jury that handed out a controversial verdict. And when one of her fellow jurors is found dead, she turns into the prime suspect. Now, she has to prove her own innocence and figure out who is really behind this.
As mentioned, it’s not all that often that Amy Adams works on TV. Since her stint on “The Office” ended in 2006, she has only done “Sharp Objects.” But, as we’ve seen over the last several years, film work for serious dramatic actors is starting to get increasingly more limited and TV is really where some of the most interesting storytelling is located. So, you’re likely going to see people like Adams continue to work in TV from time to time, as it really is a place where prestige drama can be seen by the masses.

Unfortunately, we don’t know too much else about “The Holdout,” as the series is currently being shopped around to various studios and streamers. However, this is expected to be a series that doesn’t struggle to find a home, and that’s a good thing. Let’s hope we can see “The Holdout” grace our screens sooner rather than later.
