Andy Cohen Denfeded Jennifer Lopez Against Mean Criticism
The news followed reports of low ticket sales and last-minute changes to the tour’s branding. In a statement, Jen said she was “completely heartsick and devastated” to have let fans down.
The tour’s cancelation came amid much speculation about the state of J.Lo’s marriage to Ben Affleck, whom she wed in 2022.
Though neither Jen nor Ben have directly commented on the reports of their marital woes, insiders have suggested that they’re “living separate lives.” On June 9, Entertainment Tonight also reported that the couple are trying to “quietly” sell their $60.8 million mansion, which they bought just over a year ago.
Amid everything going on, J.Lo has faced much criticism, particularly regarding her canceled tour. Notably, a June 10 article from the Hollywood Reporter speculated that her tour’s lack of demand and subsequent cancelation was down to “unlikability” and “fickle fans” losing interest in her.
However, not everyone thinks this is the case — including Andy Cohen, who’s worked with the singer numerous times.
During Friday’s episode of his Daddy Diaries podcast, Andy and his cohost, John Hill, defended J.Lo and said they don’t “understand” why people are being “so mean” to her.
Andy also took a moment to praise J.Lo’s “amazing” performance skills, having previously watched her live in Las Vegas.
“People are mad at her for doing too much,” he said. “So it’s like, well, okay? What’s she supposed to do? Too little? I don’t know. It just seems like schadenfreude, right?”
These comments come after Meghan McCain’s recent claims that J.Lo was a “deeply unpleasant” guest on The View, which she cohosted from 2017 to 2021. And though Andy didn’t mention Meghan directly, he seemed to counter her comments by saying that Jen was always good company whenever she appeared on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live.
“My friend said, ‘Well, I mean, she’s pissed off a lot of people,’” he said. “Whatever. I go, ‘Let me say, she’s been on Watch What Happens Live four times. No drama, wasn’t late, wasn’t anything, showed up, was game, did the show.”
