After a very questionable third instalment, Bad Boys Ride or Die 4DX redeems itself from its predecessor but still remains a little non-sensicle in a variety of places despite remaining funny, relevant and as high-octane as ever.

Bad Boys really hasn’t been the same since Michael Bay departed from making these movies and not even a few seconds of cameo amped up Ride or Die to anything that even comes close to Bad Boys or my personal favourite, Bad Boys 2.
Whilst the plot of the third movie revolved around Will Smith’s character Mike, the plot of the fourth movie revolves more around Martin Lawrence’s character Marcus and it’s hilarious.
Marcus went MIA during the third movie but he comes back with a bang in the fourth movie after suffering a heart attack (pivotal to the plot and not a spoiler) he goes through an entire film of chases, shootouts and more which render this particular plot point absolutely useless. If anything he puts his heart under more stress AFTER the cardiac arrest than he did before it! 
Bad Boys is always a movie that deserves to be seen on the big screen but 4DX ramped it up tenfold with a particular scene onboard a plane that nearly launched me off my seat. 4DX came into action here and complimented the scene as opposed to its usual distraction during high-octane portions of a film.
 
2024 has been horrendous for movies, the worst in recent memory with only Bad Boys and the upcoming Deadpool movie being the only two of note worth watching for me this year. It certainly makes running a movie blog very difficult when there is a sea of absolute trash being released left right and centre.
Bad Boys 4 is a diamond in the rough and whilst it’s not a perfect cut it’s sure better than most things coming out this year.
With lots of winks and nods to past movies and with returning stars including Dennis Greene as Reggie who has the best character redeem arc of the entire franchise as he teaches Mike and Marcus a few tricks! 
Martin Lawrence steals the show here for me and with a certain event triggering Mike’s character, it’s nice to see the swap as usually Mike is the cool, calm and collected one whilst Marcus is the hot mess. This role reversal made for some interesting viewing and shows how the characters are ageing and maturing in their own ways. 

Ride or Die also has some incredible action sequences even going first-person POV for a big shootout in the end where Smith was using a rotational rig to spin the camera around to create this first-person Call of Duty style scene. It’s really impressive even if you have seen the viral behind-the-scenes footage of Smith shooting this scene.
The irony of this film throwing in a scene involving slaps towards the end as Marcus slaps the s**t out of Mike to amp him up ahead of a gunfight is hilarious to me, a wink and nod to an incident that many thought had derailed Will’s career but we’re only human and Bad Boys Ride or Die proves these guys have still got it.
Smashing the numbers at the box office the film is already in profit mere days after its release and that just goes to show that there is still love and demand for these two on the big screen.
Whilst Ride or Die isn’t even close to the original two movies it’s the kind of films we need at the cinema right now and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have done themselves proud with this one.
This may be the end, but it’s a solid send-off for one of the best action-movie buddy cop-comedy action films there has ever been out there. 
If there were to ever be one more Bad Boys movie, we’d need Michael Bay back. It’s as simple as that. End the franchise with a bang!
