‘Beetlejuice 2’ Is Streaming on Netflix but Cannot Draw a Larger Crowd The ‘Twilight’
May 10, 2025
Beetlejuice may be the ghost with the most, but he isn’t currently the most popular supernatural being on his new U.S. streaming home on Netflix. Having made a surprise appearance on the platform on May 6, Tim Burton’s belated reunion with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Cathrine O’Hara, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, has climbed to number three on the Netflix
movie chart at the time of writing, but it has not been able to surpass a 17-year-old young adult fantasy juggernaut.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrived in cinemas in 2024, more than 35 years since Michael Keaton first became the world’s one and only bioexorcist and caused all kinds of havoc for the Deetz family. The sequel brought back several members of the franchise’s main cast, along with the addition of newcomers, including Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux. The film was a huge success in cinemas, and now, despite still being available on Max, it has also found a home on Netflix.

The Beetlejuice Movies Are Actually About the Horrors of Marriage
When you think about it, there’s a hell of a marriage metaphor going on here.
While this has proven popular for those living in the U.S., Beetlejuice’s powers of persuasion have not been enough to charm his way past Twilight
, which was added to the Netflix library almost a month ago. It is also lagging behind hit action movie Exterritorial, which has been dominating the top of the chart for several days now and shows no signs of easily giving up its crown.
This is perhaps not surprising, as action movies and Netflix go hand in hand like bread and butter, and there are currently four of the five Twilight movies holding Top 10 positions on the streamer’s chart. Additionally, with the movie still being available on Max, there are probably many people who have already seen the film recently since its streaming debut.
Will Beetlejuice Return for an Ironically Named Third Movie?
Warner Bros.
It seems that despite it looking for years that Beetlejuice fans would not even be getting a second movie in the franchise, a third film now appears to be moving ahead at Warner Bros. Discovery after the success of 2024’s hit sequel.
As many people already know, WBD is planning on going big with some of their most recognized IPs, including the likes of Lord of the Rings, Oceans 11, Harry Potter, and, it seems, Beetlejuice. For a franchise that remained mostly dormant for the best part of 30 years following the original 1988 movie and an animated TV show in the 1990s, between the stage musical version of Burton’s movie and the new sequel, there does appear to be life in the old ghost yet.
While there have been no specific details confirmed about Beetlejuice 3 other than the passing remarks of Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairman/CEO Mike De Luca, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice producer Tommy Harper said, “I think with Tim’s love for the title and the characters, the door is always open, but we’ll see what happens next.” Burton himself has been quite quiet on the matter, only joking that if the production timeline of a third Beetlejuice movie matched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, he would “be about 100” when it was completed.
