Blood Runs In The Family In New Michelle Yeoh-Starring Netflix Series
Dec 7, 2023
Netflix kicks off its slate of 2024 original releases in a big way with “The Brothers Sun.” For one, it’s the first series Brad Falchuk‘s overall deal with the streamer. But the show sees Michelle Yeoh return to Netflix after her turn in “The Witcher: Origins” in 2022 for something that, honestly, will likely quite a bit better than that prequel series.

And that’s because “The Brothers Sun” has a hell of a set-up. After a hit on a Tawainese crime boss, his son, a legendary hitman heads to LA to protect his Mom and his naive younger brother. But the assassination has Taipei’s other crime factions looking to gain ground, forcing the grieving family to take matters into their own hands.
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Brothers Sun,” courtesy of Netflix:
When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen, and his naive younger brother, Bruce — who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now. But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance — Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all.
Along with Yeon, “The Brothers Sun” also stars Justin Chien, Sam Long Li, Highdee Kuan, and Joon Lee. Recurring cast includes Johnny Kou, Alice Hewkin, Jon Xue Zhang, and Jenny Yang. Madison Hu and Rodney To round out the main cast.
Falchuk creates “The Brothers Sun” with Byron Wu. The pair co-write two of the show’s episodes. Other writers on the show include Andrew Law, Justin Calen-Chenn, Seejeong Son, Ally Seibert, Amy Wang, and Jason Ning. Falchuck and Wu lead executive producers with Kevin Tancharoen and Mikkel Bondesen.
Will “The Brothers Sun” be Netflix’s first big hit of 2024? Find out when the series premieres on January 4. Watch the new trailer for the show below.
