Cardi B Responds To Elon Musk Calling Her A Puppet

Nov 6, 2024

Cardi B fired back at Elon Musk after he called her a “puppet” for Kamala Harris’s campaign.

On Elon’s X platform, a user posted a clip of Cardi B at a campaign rally for the Democratic presidential candidate, where she dealt with a teleprompter error and was given a phone to help complete her speech.

On Nov. 1, at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center, Cardi B delivered an impassioned speech on women’s rights and criticized Trump’s stance.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” Cardi B said. “I do not take light the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that’s been on my heart a hot minute now.”

Let’s chat about all things 2024 Election

The “WAP” singer admitted that she wouldn’t back Trump or Joe Biden in the 2024 election, but Kamala joining the race changed her mind. “I did not have faith on any candidates until she joined the race and said the things that I wanted to hear, that I want to see next in this country,” Cardi said.

In her speech, she also criticized Trump’s statement on protection for women. “Protection for women, especially if we’re talking about maternal and mental health care, isn’t telling them what to do with their bodies. It’s supporting them and giving them the care that they need for what they choose to do with their bodies. People like Donald Trump don’t believe women deserve rights. And when those rights are taken away, they are nowhere to be found.”

But, despite all the valid points and the overall message of the Grammy Award-winning rapper’s speech, Elon and supporters of Trump seemed only to be focused on a teleprompter error and cellphone.

On Nov. 2, in a quote-tweet of the original post criticizing Cardi B’s speech, Elon wrote, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words,” referring to her using the phone. “The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”

Cardi B didn’t take long to respond to Elon with another quote-tweet, writing, “I’m not a puppet Elon.. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you….But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle…. PS fix my algorithm.”

Cardi B received support for calling out Elon on his social media platform.

Journalist Jemele Hill wrote, “A reminder that the pull yourself up by the bootstraps story is Cardi B, not Elon Musk — whose family was worth well over a $100 million when he was a child. He grew up in apartheid, benefitting from a system that legally prioritized whiteness.”A reminder that the pull yourself up by the bootstraps story is Cardi B, not Elon Musk — whose family was worth well over a $100 million when he was a child. On Instagram Live, Cardi B responded to comments about her reading the speech from the phone. “I lot of y’all talking about ‘oh, why she have to read it from a phone?’ I had to write that shit down because bitch, I’m 32 years old… I have three kids. My mind be fucking racing all got damn day, bitch.” She provided an example of how she even forgets arguments toward her haters that she rehearsed all day in the shower.

“When it comes to shit right here, I been knew what I been wanting to say but I had to make sure I ain’t forget. I wrote that shit the fuck down.”
