Ramirez, who “Top Gun: Maverick” fans will recognize as the pilot “Fanboy,” signs on to play Manny, a soldier with positive vibes who’s uncertain about the future. Fresh off of “How To Blow Up A Pipeline,” Barer will play Mel, a young doctor. “You” star Gabrielle will play Nora, a military medic with personal demons, and “Riverdale” actor Lord plays Owen, a man who may be too gentle to deal with the reality he’s living in.
The four actors join other new cast members Kaitlyn Dever, Isabel Merced, Young Manzino, and Catherine O’Hara, who were all cast for Season 2 earlier this year. Expect more cast announcements as the next season of “The Last Of Us” inches closer to production.
Based the Naughty Dog game series, “The Last Of Us” takes place in a post-apocalyptic US where civilization has collapsed due to a fungal-based pandemic. Twenty years after collapse, Pedro Pascal‘s Joe get hired to smuggle Bella Ramsay‘s Ellie across a quarantine zone because Ellie is immune to the infection, and may hold a cure for humanity . But Joe and Ellie’s travels prove more devastating than either of them could predict.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann‘s show was by far HBO’s biggest new series last year, setting all sorts of viewership records and receiving 24 Emmy noms. It won 8 awards at the ceremony earlier this year, including Oustanding Guest Actor and Guest Actress for Nick Offerman and Storm Reid, respectively. Other cast includes Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, Merle Dandrige, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson, and Troy Baker.
“The Last Of Us” Season 2 won’t premiere on HBO until 2025, but stay tuned for more news about the upcoming season.
