Da’Vine Joy Randolph Wins Supporting Actress Capping A Historic Oscar Season Run

That’s a sweep for Da’Vine Joy Randolph. “The Holdovers” star won her first Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress. A win that capped off a remarkable few months where she won almost every conceivable Supporting Actress honor for her role in Alexander Payne’s hit dramedy.

Randolph won the SAG Award, the BAFTA Award, the Film Independent Spirit Award, the Golden Globe, the Critics Choice Award, and almost every critics group award. Randolph even pulled off a rare New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and National Board of Review trifecta. The Philadelphia native’s awards season run ranks her alongside recent dominating Oscar-winning runs by Mo’Nique (“Precious”) and Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine”).

Currently a regular on Hulu’s hit comedy “Only Murders in the Building” (Randolph is expected to return for season four), her other acting credits include “Rustin,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “The Lost City,” and, most recently, HBO’s “The Idol.” Her upcoming projects include Joe Carnahan’s “Shadow Force” (filmed almost two years ago) and the Rebel Wilson-starring comedy “Bride Hard.”
The other nominees in this category were Emily Blunt (“Oppenheimer”), Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), America Ferrera (“Barbie”), and two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (“Nyad”).
