DC Officially Reveals Kara Zor-El’s Team Up With Jason Momoa’s Lobo In Action-Packed Supergirl Trailer
Apr 1, 2026
Kara Zor-El goes John Wick in the latest Supergirl trailer after a new enemy puts Krypto the Superdog’s life on the line. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the upcoming DC Universe film follows Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of Krypton and Superman’s cousin. Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as the title character, with the rest of the cast including Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. David Corenswet will also reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman. DC Studios recently dropped a full-length trailer featuring Krypto hijinks, a wisecracking Lobo, and lots of explosions. Check it out below:
The footage opens with Kara on a video call with Clark, as shown in a prior Supergirl teaser, and the Man of Steel expresses worry over his cousin “finding her people.” In response, Kara states, “That’s the thing, Clark. I have no people.” Kara’s unique bond with Krypto, her only friend from her now-destroyed home planet, is showcased, as is her father Zor-El (Krumholtz) preparing her for escape. “Home is wherever you are, buddy,” Kara says. Set to “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” by Jimmy Ruffin, Supergirl muses on how lucky they were to have each other, until their luck “runs out.” After Krem of the Yellow Hills (Schoenaerts) shoots Krypto and poisons him, Kara has to race against time to save her beloved dog. The hero teams up with Ruthye Marye Knoll (Ridley), who is seeking revenge on Krem for murdering her parents. Along the way, their journey also leads them to cross paths with the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo.
A longtime fan-favorite DC character, Lobo is out in full-force in the Supergirl trailer. Not only does the antihero drop a few one-liners, but he also joins the fight, laughing and hollering all the while. Momoa has long been vocal about his love for Lobo, something that undoubtedly fed into his over-the-top performance. Despite Kara and her allies receiving most of the trailer’s screen time, Krem is a menacing presence throughout. Likewise, Kara’s emotional arc is front and center, with the potential loss of Krypto symbolizing her inability to form connections after the destruction of Krypton. To further emphasize his importance, the trailer twists the knife at its end by repeating Kara’s prior line, “Home is wherever you are, buddy.”
With a screenplay from Ana Nogueira, Supergirl adapts this storyline directly from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic. This sets Kara up to have a very different adventure from that of her cousin in last summer’s Superman, though both heavily feature Krypto. Clark’s story was one of accepting he is his own man, undefined by his extraterrestrial heritage and able to demonstrate radical kindness in an unkind world, while Kara’s is best explained through the trailer’s tagline: “Find your place in the universe.” Supergirl releases in theaters on June 26, 2026.
