First Look at ‘Invincible’ Season 4 Reveals ‘Walking Dead’ Alum as Key Character

Jan 23, 2026

Invincible, the action-packed superhero drama based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, will start airing its fourth season on Amazon Prime Video sometime in March, although an exact release date has yet to be announced. But clearly Amazon is ramping up to it. The streamer has released new images, including one of a new character played by Danai Gurira. Gurira is best known for playing Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the katana-wielding Michonne on The Walking Dead. In Invincible, Danai will play Universa, an extraterrestrial villain who comes to Earth intending to drain the planet of energy she can then use to save her home world. Clearly that plan doesn’t go well, since the image Amazon released shows Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) socking Universa square in the face:

Gurira is one of several Walking Dead alums who have joined the cast of Invincible, which isn’t surprising; Robert Kirkman also wrote The Walking Dead comics, so it’s only natural that he’d invite some of his old coworkers onto his new project. Steven Yeun, who played Glenn on The Walking Dead, plays Invincible himself, real name Mark Grayson. That’s Mark above fighting new villain Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys), a brilliant scientist who sometimes turns into a super-strong dinosaur who thinks he can save humanity by killing large numbers of humans. That’s just a normal day in Invincible’s life. And in season 3, Walking Dead vet Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) came on board as Conquest, a brutal enforcer from the Viltrum Empire and one of the most powerful characters on the show. Conquest was alive last we saw him, so expect Morgan to be back in season 4.
The Cast of Invincible Gets Even More Impressive

Nolan and Mark stand side by side in InvincibleAmazon Prime Video

Next to the picture of Mark and Dinosaurus, we have an image of Thragg — the leader of the Viltrum Empire and one of the primary antagonists of the series — flying through space. He’ll be voiced by Foundation star Lee Pace. Next to that, we have an image of Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) putting his arm around Mark’s father Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). Those two may not have started out friends, but now they’re allies in the fight against the tyrannical Viltrum Empire. Finally, we see returning heroes like Bulletproof (Jay Pharoah) and Shapesmith (Ben Schwartz). Obviously, Invincible has a very impressive voice cast; although not all of them are regulars, the cast has also included actors like Sandra Oh, Walton Goggins, Zachary Quinto, Mahershala Ali, Mae Whitman, Zazie Beetz, Jason Mantzoukas, Mark Hamill, Clancy Brown, Nicole Byer, Jonathan Groff, and Aaron Paul. That probably means a sizable portion of the budget goes to the cast, but it’s worth it.

A fifth season of Invincible has already been announced, and Kirkman has said he sees the show running for about eight seasons before everything is wrapped up.
