The strikes paralyzed the industry for a large part of the year, causing delays in production and release dates. After a long wait due to strikes in Hollywood, ABC announces the returns of Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, Abbott Elementary, The Conners and other popular titles from the network.

The studios have finally reached an agreement with the writers’ and actors’ unions, putting an end to the historic strikes that paralyzed the film and television industry for a large part of the year, delaying a long list of releases and returns. While some productions are getting ready to start filming or resume the shootings that were halted, ABC revealed the returning dates of some of their most successful shows.

Through Variety, the network revealed that the multi-award-winning comedy Abbott Elementary will return to the screen for its third season on February 7, with a one-hour special. This long-awaited return will be followed by a new episode of The Conners, Not Dead Yet, and to close Wednesday night there will be an episode of Judge Steve Harvey.

Days later, on February 20, Will Trent, The Rookie and the acclaimed medical drama The Good Doctor will return with new episodes. While on March 14, after being canceled by Fox last May, 9-1-1 will debut in its new home. The premiere of 9-1-1 will be followed by a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off, Station 19.

The new season of the successful series created by Shonda Rhimes will feature the debut of a new showrunner. Meg Marinis will take over the role from veteran Krista Vernoff, who also left her position as showrunner of Station 19.

While Grey’s Anatomy has not yet been officially renewed for another installment, it appears that season 20 will not be the end. Despite having lost most of its original stars, including the departure of Ellen Pompeo, there are still many adventures to experience at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. And, of course, the door to Meredith’s return is still open because Pompeo is still actively participating in the show as producer and narrator. She even showed up at the end of the latest season.

Related Taraji P. Henson on Emmy Comedy Nod for Abbott Elementary: ‘They Finally See Me’ Henson shared that she ventured to Hollywood in hopes of becoming “a funny girl” before landing roles in a number of dramas.
