Harley Quinn Will Return for a Fifth Season
Nov 29, 2023
Summary
Harley Quinn has been renewed for season five. The Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation expresses excitement for the partnership with Max and the upcoming fifth season of Harley Quinn. Actor Harvey Guillén, who plays Nightwing, looks forward to future storylines and is excited about the direction of the show.
The Clown Prince of Crime’s pivotal The Killing Joke moment was only one small part of Harley Quinn season four. Yes, the Joker (Alan Tudyk) crippled Batgirl, aka Barbara Gordon (Briana Cuoco), just as he did in Alan Moore’s 1988 graphic novel. But the season finale presented its own jaw-dropping moment, as Dick Grayson (Harvey Guillén) was miraculously resurrected thanks to the healing powers of the Lazarus Pit. And fans will get to see how the cliffhanger plays out because Harley Quinn has been renewed for a fifth season on Max. The Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation, Peter Girardi, said via a statement (per Variety):
Harley Quinn has raised the comedic crowbar with every new season. We’re excited to continue this partnership with Max and take our biggest swing yet for Season 5.
The Executive Vice President of Original Comedy and Adult Animation at Max and Adult Swim, Suzanna Makkos, added:
“The talented Harley Quinn team has once again succeeded in delivering a season that builds on everything that has come before while still feeling fresh and inventive. They continue to provide hilarious, heartwarming, and deranged stories with our lovable group of DC misfits, and we couldn’t be more excited for the fans to see what they’ve accomplished in Season 5.”

Season four of Max’s Harley Quinn may have ended with the haunting imagery of Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, creepily crawling out of the Lazarus Pit, which he was placed in by Talia al Ghul (Aline Elasmar) and Damian Wayne (Jacob Tremblay), but fans won’t soon forget Harles even managed to save Superman (James Wolk) from Lex Luthor’s (Giancarlo Esposito) Kryptonite death trap. Still, Harley has one serious complication awaiting her in season five. As Grayson angrily emerges from the green liquid and ooze of the Lazarus Pit, the one-time partner of Batman says:
Where the f— is Harley Quinn?
Grayson will certainly be looking for revenge against Harley in season five, since she played an integral part in the hero’s death. But the actor, Harvey Guillén, who portrays the iconic member of the Bat-Family was already looking forward to the future of his character before season four even dropped on Max. Guillén said in a December 2022 interview with ComicBook.com:
Nightwing is such a great character that I love playing, and the whole idea with Harley Quinn and the story and direction they’ve gone with the director and everyone. I’m excited for future storylines, I’ll say that.
Harley Quinn season four’s penultimate scene comes as Catwoman (Sanaa Lathan) has gathered Harles (Kaley Cuoco), Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) and Barbara Gordon to meet with her in the graveyard where Nightwing’s empty casket resides. After a brief argument over whether to call themselves the Birds of Prey or the Gotham City Sirens, the new superhero group (GCS) decides to take the weekend off before trying to solve the mystery of Grayson’s missing body.
At the time of this writing, a projected release date has not been revealed for season five of Harley Quinn. However, fans can check out the Kite Man: Hell Yeah! trailer, which is a spin-off series currently slated to drop in 2024.
