He Should Go Toe-To-Toe With Some Superheroes That We Know

Dec 3, 2024

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson discusses whether Kraven the Hunter should fight Spider-Man in a future project, and he has some excellent ideas for the Marvel character’s future. Kraven the Hunter is the latest installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The film stars Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, a powerful hunter with unnatural abilities. Kraven has a lengthy history with Spider-Man in the comics, but Sony still hasn’t introduced the hero to their universe, meaning it’s unclear if this version of Kraven will get the chance to hunt him.

Sony’s Universe doesn’t have any confirmed plans after Kraven the Hunter hits theaters next week, and with Venom: The Last Dance being the final Venom film, their universe is shrinking rather than expanding. Adding Spider-Man could be the answer Sony needs and audiences want to see Sony’s villains fight the famous web-slinger. In an interview with Screen Rant’s Liam Crowley, Taylor-Johnson addresses a possible fight with Spider-Man, saying Kraven should go “toe-to-toe” with some of Marvel’s best superheroes.

“I mean, it’s very much the question to everyone else really, right? Because I think what we’ve done, what we’ve set up in this story is a really rich character that definitely has the legs to go on and do more damage. I think he should go toe-to-toe with some superheroes that we know. One of my favorite stories is Kraven’s Last Hunt. It was one of the source materials I used to go back from. He’s got some dark demons there and we are basically showing the birth of that and how he becomes a villain that we then come to know. So really come see this movie, man. Come see this movie. I promise you it won’t disappoint. It’s got all the beats that you want and more. I think it could be an audience’s sort of villain favorite, definitely go toe-to-toe with some other people down the line, man.”

Taylor-Johnson’s comments suggest that Kraven will become a villain by the end of this film. Unlike Venom or Morbius, Kraven the Hunter could end without turning Kraven into an antihero, suggesting there could be a reason for him to confront Spider-Man or another hero in the Sony Marvel universe. It’s unknown if there are plans for Kraven as Taylor-Johnson’s comments are vague, but it looks like Sony could be going in a different direction with Kraven by making him a certified villain.

His comments also show that Taylor-Johnson wants to explore more with this character, especially his relationship with Spider-Man. He mentions Kraven’s Last Hunt, a comic book storyline where Kraven defeats Spider-Man and briefly takes his place, brutally wounding and killing criminals while in a Spider-Man suit. It’s an excellent comic, featuring a dark ending for Kraven, and it would be intriguing to see Sony adapt it. However, Sony would need a Spider-Man for that to happen.

Taylor-Johnson’s comments suggest Kraven has no confirmed plans yet within Sony’s universe, but there are plenty of possibilities. It does depend largely on whether Sony introduces Spider-Man into their universe, especially if Taylor-Johnson wants to adapt Kraven’s Last Hunt. Sony needs to introduce Spider-Man soon, especially after the box office results of Morbius and Madame Web and after the conclusion of the Venom franchise. Kraven should hunt Spider-Man and Sony would be wise to set this up immediately, especially if Kraven the Hunter performs well.
