Two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry, Million Dollar Baby) and Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel, Ready Player One) star in a new trailer for the crime thriller The Good Mother. They are joined in the cast by Dilone, Hopper Penn, Norm Lewis, Karen Aldridge, and Jack Reynor. Miles Joris-Peyrafitte (Dreamland, As You Are) directed the film, and co-wrote the script as well alongside Madison Harrison. The film’s synopsis reads:Starring 2-time Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank, The Good Mother follows the journalist Marissa Bennings (Hilary Swank) who, after the murder of her estranged son, forms an unlikely alliance with his pregnant girlfriend Paige (Olivia Cooke) to track down the killers. Together they confront a world of corruption and drugs in the seedy underbelly of a small city in upstate New York. As they get closer to the truth, they unearth an even darker secret.I thought this was going to look a lot like some of the other mother revenge movies we’ve seen over the years, but it actually looks pretty good. The story seems intense and nuanced, and the lead actresses are so talented. I am looking forward to checking this out. Watch the trailer below, and catch The Good Mother in select US theatres starting September 1st.

Will Poulter Is Sensational In An Addiction Drama That Avoids Sensationalizing [Sundance]
