Jeremy Renner Returns For A Third Season Of His Prison/Crime Series On June 2
Apr 25, 2024
It’s wild to think that Jeremy Renner was facing life-threatening injuries in January 2023 following his snowplow accident. Yet, about a year later, he was on the set of his crime and prison industrial complex series, “Mayor Of Kingstown,” shooting a third season. And that third season is almost upon us as Paramount+ revealed the full official trailer for “Mayor of Kingstown” S3 today. The series returns and premieres Sunday, June 2, in the U.S. and Canada and begins rolling out on June 3 in all other Paramount+ international markets.
The series was created by Oscar-nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, a former musician and actor who has appeared in many of Sheridan’s shows over the years, including his hit series “Yellowstone.” “Mayor Of Kingtown” is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions exclusively for Paramount+. Action filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is also one of the show’s executive producers.

In case you’re unaware, ‘Kingstown’ centers on the McLusky family, who are power brokers in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, where the incarceration business is the only thriving industry. The series tackles themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality. In season one, Renner’s character reluctantly becomes the new “mayor” of this corrupt and broken system after his brother is suddenly murdered.
On top of Renner, “Mayor Of Kingtown” features an impressive ensemble cast, including series regulars Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach.
However, don’t look for Dianne Wiest as Renner’s mother, Mariam McLusky. She did not return for a third season, and if you look closely at the end of this new trailer, you will see that the producers seemingly tease how she’s written out of the show.
Here’s the season three synopsis:
In season three, a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.
