Karen Gillan Teases Nebula’s New Phase in Guardians of The Galaxy III

Jul 7, 2023

The Guardians of the Galaxy are ready to return to the big screen in the third installment of the trilogy led by James Gunn, in what will be his last project at Marvel Studios before finally leaving for DC Studios to oversee all projects in the franchise.

Therefore, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be a more than special farewell, not only for the director but also for part of the cast that, little by little, will leave their places to the new generations of MCU heroes. One of which will lose prominence is Nebula, Karen Gillan’s character, one of the most complex and interesting that Marvel has presented in its great shared universe.

The actress is preparing to leave the character behind, who will have a lot to deal with in this installment of the saga. And it will be a more than interesting trip for Nebula, according to Gillan, who recently spoke with Deadline:

“Now we’re seeing Nebula post the death of the source of her trauma, Thanos. He’s been eliminated from the story, and now we’re seeing her character become a little bit of the person that she should have been had that not happened to her,” Gillan shared. Gillian explained that Nebula’s new idea of bliss is “her new family with the new Guardians and letting love in for the first time, rather than the defense mechanism always triggering. Allowing her to be loved and to love.”

What to Expect from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Disney+

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III, our beloved band of misfits is settling in Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by echoes of Rocket’s troubled past. Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team around her on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life, which, if not completed successfully, could lead to the end of the Guardians just as we know them.

The film will see the returns of Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff in the leading roles. Joining them will be Will Poulter, playing the long-awaited Adam Warlock, who will be merely introduced to later take a much bigger role in the future of the MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to arrive in theaters on May 5.
