Michael Gandolfini Shares Details on his Daredevil: Born Again Character
Jul 22, 2023
Filming for Daredevil: Born Again began a few days ago, and details of the Man Without Fear’s long-awaited solo debut in the MCU continue to emerge following the cancelation of the hit Netflix series. Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal will return as Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, and Frank Castle for the Disney+ original series, which will hit the platform next year.
Obviously, the actors will not be alone since a series of new actors and actresses will be joining the project. Among them is the star of The Many Saints of Newark and the son of the protagonist of The Sopranos, Michael Gandolfini. At the moment, it is unknown what character the young actor will be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but thanks to an interview with Collider, Gandolfini shared some details of his role:
“I believe all I can say about my character is that my character is from Staten Island, and that’s about it.”
The most interesting thing about his statements is the possible connections they could bring to the franchise’s future. Staten Island is also the place of origin of another of the characters that will soon debut in the MCU, Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, who will return to theaters in 2024 with Ryan Reynolds.
The Merc with a Mouth isn’t the only Marvel character with a history with Staten Island. The Venom symbiote toxin also comes from the same location, which could also make some interesting connections to tie the MCU and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Verse together once again.

Michael also shared his excitement about joining the MCU:
“I mean, it’s incredible. It’s so, so exciting and daunting and everyone is so nice and so talented. I remember getting my first text from the producer, I was driving, and it said, ‘Welcome to the MCU!’ You see that and it just, like, hits you, you know? I teared up, and it’s just like, ‘Oh my God!’ I’m very grateful and lucky.”
Gandolfini has become quite a name in the industry after being part of The Sopranos prequel. He is now part of the star-studded cast of Extrapolations, the Apple TV+ show with Meryl Streep, Kit Harington, and David Swhimmer as main stars, among many others.
He was also part of the Paramount+ series The Offer, which tells the story of the production behind The Godfather, and a member of the cast of HBO’s The Deuce. In cinema, Gandolfini will soon appear in Beau if Afraid, Ari Astrer’s next film starring Joaquin Phoenix.
