Netflix has unveiled our first look at the fourth and final season of the twisted superhero show, The Umbrella Academy. Revealed as part of the tease for their 2024 slate, the first (very brief) footage and a new image from the final season featuring the core cast including Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gallagher have now arrived, with The Umbrella Academy’s last hurrah now set to premiere “later this year.”
With the return of favorites like Squid Game season two (the first footage from which has also now been released), Bridgerton, The Diplomat, Umbrella Academy, Rebel Moon, and Beverly Hills Cop, as well as the release of brand-new shows and movies like 3 Body Problem, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Back in Action, and Atlas, Netflix promises to bring audiences some of the biggest shows, movies and events throughout the year.
The Umbrella Academy first began back in 2019 and is based on the Dark Horse comic by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The first season of The Umbrella Academy picks up in 1989, when a highly unusual occurrence sees forty-three infants inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy. Seven of these mysterious babies are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world.
After hurling the Hargreeves siblings back in time and into 1960s Dallas, the third season picks up with the family in yet another timeline. This time around, The Umbrella Academy has been replaced by the Sparrow Academy, a smart, stylish, and better prepared version of the superhero family. The Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas, who quickly retreat to the mysterious Hotel Obsidian.
The Umbrella Academy season three ends with a literal pushing of the reset button, with the Hargreeves emerging in a new world controlled by their father, Reginald, and with no superpowers.
Starring an ensemble cast that includes Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher as the titular Umbrella Academy, all three seasons of the Netflix series have been met with much acclaim thanks to their unique approach to the superhero genre. Here’s hoping the final season will be a worthy end.

The Umbrella Academy Creator Has Revealed Certain Details About Season 4
Netflix Geeked recently revealed a tease of what fans can expect from the fourth and final season of the hit superhero show, The Umbrella Academy. Starring Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, it was confirmed last year that season four will be the show’s last. In a new video shared by Netflix, the cast discuss the upcoming final act of the popular series.
The Umbrella Academy creator Steve Blackman has revealed certain details regarding the fourth and final season, including that the tyrannical Sir Reginald Hargreeves was not able to get the exact results he hoped for with his reset.
“It certainly is. But the siblings are always up for a challenge. This new timeline has been dictated by Hargreeves, who reprogrammed the Universe at the end of the Season 3 finale. But because of Allison’s actions, he didn’t get to finish what he started before Allison pressed the reset button.”
Blackman has also revealed that audiences will see a lot more from Justin H. Min’s Ben, who at this stage is the Sparrow Academy variant version.
“Let’s be clear — that is Sparrow Ben. The question you should really be asking yourself is what the f–k is he doing on a Korean subway train reading a book about pottery? Odd, right? Of course, it is! This is the Umbrella Academy. As every good Umbrella fan knows, no moment in the show exists in isolation. Everything we see has meaning. And this moment is no exception. Ben has a reason to be there… but you’ll have to wait until Season 4 to understand why.”
The Umbrella Academy season four will land on Netflix in 2024 with the first episode “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want.”
