Now, fan art of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always made by zordi.art on Instagram sees Trini and Minh standing back-to-back as fellow Yellow Rangers.

The art uses the likenesses of actors Trang and Charlie Kersh to make the pair’s team-up a reality. The image is labeled with many hashtags, including “#tribute,” a clear indication it was made in memory of Trang’s role in the franchise.

How Once & Always Pays Tribute To Thuy Trang

As first revealed in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always trailer, Robot Rita killed Trini in battle, expressing a desire to also kill the rest of the team by traveling back in time to before they became Power Rangers. After the death of her mother, Minh steps up and becomes the Yellow Ranger. Taking after her mom, she helps the more seasoned Power Rangers fight against Rita and her minions in order to save the team and the world.

Despite not being featured in Once & Always, Trang’s presence lingers throughout because of how important Trini’s death is at the start of the film. By having Trini’s daughter take up the mantle of Yellow Ranger, the film was able to pay homage to Trang’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers performance while also passing the mantle down with respect. Now that Minh is a Power Ranger, she can follow in the footsteps of her mother by helping to save the world from any intergalactic threats it may face.

By the end of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, Robot Rita is defeated by Zack, preventing her from going back in time to kill the Rangers. However, because she was killed by Robot Rita prior to her plan, Trini is gone for good, giving weight to the new responsibility Minh has. Instead of glossing over Trang’s real-life death, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always made it part of the story to further honor the hero she portrayed.
