New SAW X Details and Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw Will Be in the Movie “More Than in Any Other SAW” — GeekTyrant

Sep 15, 2023

Tobin Bell is set to return to the role of Jigsaw Killer John Kramer in the next chapter of the Saw franchise, Saw X. This next movie actually looks really interesting as the story is set between the events of Saw I and II.The story centers on a “a sick and desperate John, [who] travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”The film is being directed by franchise veteran Kevin Greutert, and he recently shared some additional details on the film and explains that Jigsaw will be in this movie more than any of the other Saw films that have been made. He explained to Empire: “Kramer is the centre of the story, more than in any other Saw. This one has pulled back to a somewhat more realistic level. Not maybe Saw I-level simplicity, but close. The more that the audience can get the sense that a smart engineer – which he is – could figure out what to do with these parts and make it work, the better.” He went on to explain that the other big shift in the franchise is a perspective from the terrified subjects of Kramer’s games to Kramer himself. He said:“[Saw X] is an emotional journey that you go on with John Kramer, and less a slaughterhouse that you experience from the point of view of the victims. Obviously there will be people that can’t handle it, but I think it has a good chance of appealing to people beyond gore freaks.”The filmmaker goes on to talk about the importance of Tobin Bell in the Saw franchise saying, “They tried to make the last Saw without Tobin, and to me, that was a pretty gutsy move.” So, he putting the film’s focus on the character, which should prove to be a smart move from the franchise. The cast for Saw X also includes Renata Vaca (Midnight Family), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of Tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Octavio Hinojosa (Come Play With Me), Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) and Michael Beach (Dahmer). Lionsgate will now release Saw X in theaters on September 29, 2023! Enjoy the trailer!
