‘Peaky Blinders’ Sequel Series First Look Image Reveals Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby
Apr 4, 2026
A new era of Peaky Blinders begins. Following the hugely successful release of the final chapter in the Tommy Shelby saga in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Netflixhas now revealed our first look at the upcoming sequel series, confirming that a major role has now been recast. Again. After six seasons and now a film finale, by order of Netflix, the Peaky Blinders continue on, with the sequel series taking place a decade after the events of The Immortal Man. The streamer has now revealed a first look image from the series, which casts Billy Elliott and Fantastic Four star Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby, the illegitimate son of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby, and a role played in the series by Conrad Khan and by Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

Cutting a similarly cool and oddly intimidating figure much like his father before him, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that Jamie Bell’s Duke Shelby is not sporting a flat cap (or baker boy cap, as they’re more specifically known), which has become synonymous with the Birmingham gang. Instead, Bell is wearing a fedora-style hat, which, of course, has itself become synonymous with gangsters of a certain era. That era spans the 1920s through to the early 1950s, with the Peaky Blinders sequel series now confirmed to be set during the latter. As per an announcement from Netflix, the sequel will take place “a decade after World War Two,” and “the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.” Creator Steven Knight, meanwhile, released a statement praising Bell and the rest of the cast.
“I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s. We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.
Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel, and it will be a hell of a ride.”

As semi-spoiled by Knight’s statement, Jamie Bell, who is also known for roles in All of Us Strangers and Rocket Man, will be joined by Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Industry), Jessica Brown Findlay (Harlots, Downton Abbey), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic).
The last we saw Duke, he was grieving the loss of someone close to him (no overt spoilers here). Crowned “Rom baro,” the Shelby heir will return to the mean streets of Birmingham for two new six-episode seasons. Release date details have yet to be announced.
