Quentin Tarantino Crime Thriller ‘Jackie Brown’ Hits Free Streaming on Tubi
May 31, 2025
With just nine films, Quentin Tarantino has been able to set himself apart as one of the most influential and successful filmmakers of our time. Despite that, the writer/director has confirmed that he plans to retire after he makes his tenth film, which is a surprising career move to say the least. The earlier films in Tarantino’s career are some of his most interesting, and one that is often considered as the most overlooked is his 1997 film Jackie Brown. Now, the crime thriller will be headed to a new streaming service soon. Jackie Brown will be available on Tubi starting Jun. 1, meaning Tarantino’s cult classic crime film will be accessible for free to anyone who downloads the app. Tubi is a free streaming platform that offers a wide range of movies and television shows, with users only required to watch a few advertisements to access the titles they want to watch. Jackie Brown is one such title that will be worth a couple of ads. Written and directed by Tarantino (much like all of his filmography), the film tells the story of the titular character, played excellently by Pam Grier, who finds herself in the cross-hairs of both a dangerous arms dealer and federal authorities.

Quentin Tarantino Fans Need To Check Out Alan Ritchson’s Gory Grindhouse Series
Syfy’s underrated road action thriller ‘Blood Drive’ starring Alan Ritchson has all the ingredients of a classic Quentin Tarantino movie.
In typical Tarantino fashion, the script involves Brown maneuvering herself to play both sides of the dangerous conflict, agreeing to help her boss, Ordell (Samuel L. Jackson), save her own life while also manipulating the authorities who are trying to use her to bring him down. The movie is adapted from the novel Rum Punch, written by Elmore Leonard, and represents an interesting tonal departure from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, the two movies he directed before it.
‘Jackie Brown’ Is a Unique Entry in Quentin Tarantino’s Filmography
Miramax Films
In what became a staple of the director’s future works, Jackie Brown has an incredible ensemble cast. Aside from Pam Grier and Samuel L. Jackson, the movie features the likes of Robert Forster, Bridget Fonda, Michael Keaton, Robert De Niro, and Chris Tucker. There are some interesting collaborators here who would both go on to work with the director on several other projects, like Jackson, and others who didn’t appear in another Tarantino film, like Keaton. More than anything, Jackie Brown serves as a shining example of the director’s ability to craft a film that feels entirely unique in his filmography. The more mature, slower-paced Jackie Brown received positive reviews upon its initial release, with the film even getting Robert Forster an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. One of the best crime thrillers of the 90s, the film serves as a homage to 1970s Blaxploitation cinema. The inclusion of Jackie Brown on Tubi will give fans of Tarantino’s later work a chance to check out one of his earlier films. Featuring fun performances that help to accentuate the slow-burn thrills and a good soundtrack (as is the case with most Tarantino films), watching this movie for free at the cost of a few advertisements is more than worth it. As the director is still in the early stages of deciding what his final film is going to be, now is as good a time as any to check out the third film in Tarantino’s filmography.
