Rebecca Ferguson’s Apple TV+ Hard Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Silo’ Suffers Major Setback on Streaming Ahead of Season 3
Feb 22, 2026
In 2023, Rebecca Ferguson took center stage in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi series that quickly became a fan favorite among Apple TV+ users. Based on a best-selling book series by Hugh Howey, the show currently has two seasons under its belt and is adored by fans and critics alike. Audiences can’t wait for Season 3 of Silo, which is expected to drop sometime in 2026. But, ahead of Season 3’s premiere, the show has suffered a major blow on the streaming charts. Since the release of its second season in late 2024, the series has held a frequent place in Apple TV+’s streaming charts. Season 2 skyrocketed Silo to the top of the chart, and it maintained a spot in the Top 10 since Season 2 concluded in January 2025. Other shows came and stole the top spot, including new seasons of Slow Horses, Shrinking, The Morning Show, and Apple’s other major sci-fi hit, Severance. But, in a shocking turn of events, given the immense popularity of Silo, the series has now been knocked out of Apple’s streaming chart. The newest season of Hijack currently holds the top spot. But, the Top 10 also includes less popular shows like the action thriller Tehran, and the French adaptation of the Japanese manga, Drops of God (Les Gouttes de Dieu). The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the last remnants of humanity survive in massive underground silos (hence the name). Those who commit egregious crimes are sent to the surface to see if the Earth is hospitable again. But the latest person to journey to the surface pulled the rug back on a silo-wide conspiracy. Rebecca Ferguson plays Juliette Nichols, an engineer who’s unwillingly thrust into the conspiracy. The series also stars Steve Zahn, Rashida Jones, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, Common, Iain Glen, and Tanya Moodie.
Could Dwindling Interest Impact the Show’s Future?
Silo being knocked out of Apple TV+’s Top 10 chart is far from a worst-case scenario for sci-fi fans — that would be the series being canceled outright. But this could have an impact on the show’s longevity. Unlike Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and practically every other streaming service, Apple TV+ doesn’t have a huge library of shows and movies. As a result, the fan favorites tend to dominate on the platform’s charts. It’s why Ted Lasso and Severance are frequently towards the top half of the list. When a new season of a popular show is released, it’s almost guaranteed to take the top spot. But Silo being knocked out of the Top 10 completely, while more obscure shows like Drops of God maintain a place in the Top 10, could be concerning for the show’s future. Season 3 has already wrapped production and is expected to drop this year, although a release date hasn’t been revealed. We’ll have to wait and see if Season 3 can reclaim the number one spot, which will have a big influence on Apple’s decision to renew the show for a fourth season.
‘Silo’ Defies Trends to Demand Your Attention
Apple TV+
If you’ve never seen Silo, and you’re reading an article about the show’s future potentially being in trouble, it might put you off starting the show. But we still urge you to check out the first two seasons of Silo. Season 1 is an intense, plot-twist-filled thriller that contains all its action within the eponymous silo. Expectedly, such a cramped location is like a pressure cooker, filled with narrative tension, that’s just waiting to pop. Season 2 greatly expands the worldbuilding, but maintains the intense, character-focused drama. Check out Silo before Season 3’s release, and you won’t regret it.
