Red Hulk Cinema Standee Looks More Like Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk Than Harrison Ford
Jan 12, 2025
Marvel fans have the chance to stand alongside Red Hulk when they show up for screenings of Captain America: Brave New World Captain America: Brave New World
thanks to a new standee that brings Harrison Ford
’s monstrous Hulk to life. Or at least, that is what it is meant to do, but some fans can’t help but take a shot at the “cheap” trick that has been employed to create the life-sized character in standee form.
Red Hulk has proven to be one of the biggest – literally – talking points about February’s new MCU movie. From the first tease in the original trailer for the movie, to his full reveal in subsequent teasers, the idea of Harrison Ford embodying Marvel’s newest Hulk has struck a chord with fans and also quashed one of the most common complaints about recent Marvel Studios projects by receiving a lot of praise for the CGI work that has gone into creating the character.
However, the same cannot be said about the newest addition to the displays at Regal Irvine Spectrum movie theater in California, which has been feeling the heat of some stinging comments as eagle-eyed fans pointed out a hilarious truth about the statue.
“This is just green hulk painted red. “That’s what red hulk is” NO, this specific model is Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, but painted red. Look at the face.”
Another X user echoed the sentiment, adding, “That isn’t even Harrison Ford’s face, it’s just a generic Hulk face!”
Red Hulk Can Help ‘Captain America 4’ Smash the Box Office
Despite these small gripes about the generic look of the Hulk standee, there is no doubt that the combination of Harrison Ford and Red Hulk has turned Captain America: Brave New World from a potential hit, to a virtually guaranteed success. The film has grown in expectation since its original announcement, becoming something of a nostalgic revival of 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, an Eternals tidy-up session, and a first theatrical outing for Anthony Mackie’s Captain America.
The film will see the return of Tim Blake-Nelson as Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader, 16 years after his last appearance in the franchise, along with Liv Tyler reprising her role as Betty Ross. The question of what became of Tiamut, the Celestial that was last seen emerging from the sea in Eternals, will finally be answered for those fans who have constantly complained that after three years it has not been mentioned (except it has). And of course, the jewel in the crown is Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk.
