Ryan Murphy’s Anthology Series Returns With Another Star-Studded Cast

Jan 3, 2024

After a lengthy hiatus, Ryan Murphy’s 45th anthology series (that’s obvious not the exact number, but I’m definitely in the ballpark), “Feud,” returns for its upcoming season titled ‘Capote vs. the Swans.’ And judging by the trailer, this is very much a Ryan Murphy series.

“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans” tells the true story of writer Truman Capote and his circle of female socialite friends. The drama comes in when Capote begins to use the secrets of his circle of wealthy friends in his writing. The star-studded ensemble for this series includes Tom Hollander, Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Calista Flockhart, Chloë Sevigny, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, Treat Williams, Joe Mantello, and Russell Tovey. ‘Capote vs. the Swans’ is written by Jon Robin Baitz, with episodes directed by Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch.
“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans” debuts on FX on January 31, with a two-episode premiere. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Acclaimed writer Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) surrounded himself with a coterie of society’s most elite women – rich, glamorous socialites who defined a bygone era of high society New York – whom he nicknamed “the swans.” Beautiful and distinguished, the group included grande dame Barbara “Babe” Paley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), C.Z. Guest (Chloë Sevigny) and Lee Radziwill (Calista Flockhart). Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society he so loved and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.
